    H.S. baseball: Stonington beats Killingly 11-2 to qualify for Class M state tournament

    Stonington – Dylan Cimini had two hits combined with Jack Scahill to pitch a four-hitter as Stonington beat Killingly 11-2 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division III game on Tuesday.

    The Bears (8-7, 3-2) also qualified for the Class M state tournament.

    Cimini scored twice and tripled. He also struck out seven with three walks over five innings, allowing three hits and no earned runs for the win. Scahill allowed one hit over two scoreless innings. Nick Cannella doubled twice, drove in three runs and scored three times for the Bears and Finnegan Eck was 2-for-2.

    In other games:

    • Jacob Ambrose pitched a two-hitter as Bacon Academy beat Windham 9-3 in an ECC Division II game. Ambrose struck out seven with three walks. Steve Laliberte led the offense for Bacon (9-6, 3-3) with a single, RBI double and two-run home run. Chris Lusignan and Andrew Ferrigno had two hits each and A.J. Blanchette scored twice for Bacon. Jack Valliere had both hits for Windham and drove in two runs.

    • Brady Ericson pitched a no-hitter with 20 strikeouts as Woodstock Academy beat Ledyard 4-0 in an ECC Division II game. Ericson also doubled and homered for the Centaurs. Ledyard is 1-15, 0-5.

    • Dominic Pontbriant pitched a two-hitter as Lyman Memorial beat St. Bernard 3-1 in an ECC Division IV game. Pontbriant struck out seven and also had two hits for the Bulldogs (8-6, 2-2). Michael Incontro drove in two runs for Lyman. Ryan Ziegler went the distance for the Saints (13-2, 2-2), pitching a five-hitter with seven strikeouts.

    • Bradin Anderson pitched a five-hitter and tripled as Wheeler beat Montville 3-2. The Lions (11-2) scored a run in the top of the seventh to break a 2-2 tie. James Main had two hits and Kyle Kessler drove in two runs for Wheeler, which has won 10 straight. Aidan Johnson and Ryley Beyer had doubles for Montville (4-11).

    • Ashton Goodwin drove in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning as Killingly defeated Wheeler 8-6 at Dodd Stadium in Norwich on Monday night. Jon Anderson had two hits and two RBI for the Lions while Main and Kessler added two hits apiece.

    • Reynaldo Hidalgo’s RBI double lifted Grasso Tech past Windham Tech 5-4 in the Connecticut Technical Conference Charter Oak Division on Monday. Hidalgo finished with three hits and Gabe Grossman was the winning pitcher for the Eagles (9-6, 8-0).
