Groton — Will Albrikes remained unbeaten at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win as Fitch defeated Old Lyme 5-2 in a nonleague boys’ tennis match on Thursday.

Andres Sarder and Charlie Gempp added singles wins for the Falcons (12-2) as did the doubles teams of Morgan Fisher-Nick Sousa and Michael Petropoulos-Emanuel Cruz Gonzalez.

Alis Bicic won in three sets at No. 4 singles for Old Lyme (13-2) while the Wildcats’ No. 1 doubles team of Micah Bass-Aidan Kerrigan rallied for a 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 win.

In other matches:

• Brady O’Neil, Matthew Turrisi, Chase Donnarummo and Jackson Conlon combined to lose just one game in sweeping singles as Stonington defeated St. Bernard/Wheeler 7-0. Conrad Tobiassen-Tucker Callahan, Sam Lund-Joshua Lord and Brett Caron-Peter Schoencker also swept doubles for the Bears (11-1). The Saints are 3-7.

• Montville only lost one game en route to a 7-0 win over NFA on Wednesday. Jack Giurleo, Brendan Duhamel and Benny Wu won their matches for Montville (5-5) along with the doubles teams of Danny Zhong-Ryan Yang and Nathan Dhillon-Jack Bowman. NFA (1-9) forfeited two matches.

H.S. girls’ tennis

• Old Lyme won its 60th straight match with a 6-1 nonleague win over Fitch. Elaina Morosky, Callie Bass and Katherine Zhang posted singles wins for the Wildcats (17-0) as did the doubles teams of Live Bass-Alexis Fenton, Aggie Hunt-Beatrice Hunt and Izzy Reynolds-Natalie Buckley. Julie Mielgluj won a third-set tiebreaker (10-7) at No. 1 singles for Fitch (10-4).

• Ledyard’s doubles teams of Alanah Maranzano-Katie Rezendes and Lia Day-Rachel Kulterman won third-set tiebreakers to highlight a 7-0 win over Killingly. Marissa DePaul-Shelby Morrison were also doubles winners for the Colonels (9-3) as were singles players Sarah Bailey, Claire Fenaughty, Sarah Banach and Kylee Gill.

H.S. boys’ golf

• Wheeler remained unbeaten in ECC Division IV play with a 7-0 win over Plainfield. Tyler Signor was the medalist (39) for the Lions (7-1, 3-0), who also picked up wins from Keiran Boscoe, Cameron Conway, Gavin Arruda and Brady Sadowski.

• Brandon Tavares was the medalist with a 38 and Connor Tavares carded a 39 as Stonington defeated Bacon Academy 6-1 in an ECC Division Division II match. The Bears are 9-3, 4-1.

• NFA swept a nonleague tri-match at Black Hall Club in Old Lyme as the Wildcats finished with a 168 medal total to defeat East Hampton (186) and host Valley Regional (194). Nick Wigfield was medalist for the Wildcats (7-3) with a 39.

• Cam Seiffert and Evan Lackner shared medalist honors with a 37 as Killingly defeated Waterford 7-0 in an ECC Division II match. Jacob Beardsley shot a 42 to lead the Lancers (2-9, 0-6).

• Ellis Tech’s Jarrett Towne earned medalist honors with a 37 as Ellis Tech defeated Grasso Tech 170-186 in a CTC Charter Oak match. Grasso is 2-8-1.

H.S. girls’ golf

• Caroline Goderre earned medalist honors with a 42 as NFA defeated East Lyme 220-231 in the ECC. The Wildcats are 11-1, 10-0. Natalie Brush led the Vikings with a 54.

H.S. softball

• Ledyard broke a 5-5 tie by scoring four runs with two outs in the sixth and then adding four more in the seventh to defeat New London 13-5 in an ECC Division II game. Mia Starling hit for the cyle and drove in six runs for the Colonels (9-8, 5-2) and Maegan Miller had three hits and three RBI. Alina Skrabacz had a single double and scored twice for the Whalers (5-10, 0-6) while Gabriella Santiago Cruz had two hits and two runs, Italia Salls two hits and one run and Nichelle Tucker had a two-run single.

• No. 1 Southington got a two-hitter from Maddie Furniss and beat Waterford 7-0. Furniss had 16 strikeouts as Southington moved to 14-0. Paige Jessuck had both of the hits for Waterford (11-5).

• Emma Bayor pitched a no-hitter as Old Lyme beat Coignchaug 7-0 in a Shoreline Conference game on Wednesday. Bayor (13-1) struck out nine with three walks. Ava Roth and Jenna Shauder had three hits each, Grace Phaneuf was 2-for-2 with a double and Olivia Kelly drove in two runs for the Wildcats (15-1, 12-1).

• Grasso Tech beat Vinal Tech 30-8 in a CTC Charter Oak game on Wednesday. A’zarria Darden had a pair hits and was the winning pitcher, Nutaunis Brown homered and Camryn Hobbs had a triple for the Eagles (3-9, 3-7).

H.S. volleyball

• Rockville won the fifth game 15-10 to beat NFA 3-2. Edwin Santana Hernandez had 16 kills, Paul Ericson had 37 assists and 12 digs, Gage Hinkley had seven kills, five aces and four blocks and Jhon Lopez Choc had 16 digs for NFA (12-5). Rockville won 25-20, 12-25, 24-26, 25-21, 15-10.

College softball

• Lexi Hastings and Jana Sanden had two hits apiece as top-seeded UConn edged No. 5 St. John’s 3-2 in the Big East tournament in Storrs. The Huskies (34-13) will face No. 3 Seton Hall, a 9-6, 9-inning winner over No. 2 Villanova, in Friday’s winners’ bracket final at noon.

College football

• UConn announced it has changed its 2023 season and home opener against North Carolina State from Saturday, Sept. 2, to Thursday night, Aug. 31, at Rentschler Field in East Hartford. The move is to accommodate the CBS Sports Network, which will televise the game, and the starting time will be announced at a later date.

H.S. boys’ track

• Kolby Quinn won three events as St. Bernard wrapped up the ECC Division IV title with an 81.67-50.33 win over Tourtellotte on Wednesday. Quinn won the javelin (136-0), long jump (20-0) and triple jump (41-0). Savas Videll, Colin Britner and Theodore Burrell won two events each for the Saints (4-2, 3-0) and Zane Baton also won an event.

Videll won the 100 (12.5) and 200 (26.0), Britner won the 1600 (5:02) and high jump (5-4) and Burrell won the 110 hurdles (18.7) and 300 hurdles (44.5).

• Montville lost to Killingly 72.5-65.5 in an ECC Division III meet on Wednesday. Enzo Valenti of Montville won the shot put (39-11.5) and discus (140-7). Dylan Horkey, Kyler Newer, Michael Vogt and Adam Sheridan also won events for Montville (4-4, 2-2).

H.S. girls’ track

• Montville clinched the ECC Division III title with an 87-53 win over Killingly on Wednesday. Tianna Bamber and Evelyn Granskog won two events each for Montville. Bamber took the 100 (12.7) and 200 (27.9) and Granskog won the 100 hurdles (17.7) and 300 hurdles (53.9). Jaisey Galvin, Izzy Northrop, Kamryn Plikus and Sam Kuruchi also won events for Montville (7-1, 4-0).

• Sienna Sferrazza won three events as St. Bernard beat Tourtellotte 92-40 in the ECC Division IV meet on Wednesday. Sferrezza won the 100 (13.8), 200 (29.0) and 300 hurdles (55.4).

Payton Lowe and Vanessa Colla each won two events and Martha Hammond, Audrey-Jane Turner and Liberty Frechette also won events for the Saints (3-3, 2-1). Lowe won the shot put (31-1) and discus (116-3) and Colla won the long jump (13-5) and triple jump (30-3).
