    H.S. tennis: Stonington boys clinch ECC Division I title

    Waterford — Stonington clinched the Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I boys’ tennis championship with a 7-0 victory over Waterford on Monday.

    The Bears (12-1, 5-0) had tiebreaking wins from Jackson Conlon at No. 3 singles and Peter Schoencker at No. 4 singles to highlight the win.

    Brady O’Neil and Matthew Turrisi also won singles matches for Stonington as did the doubles teams of Conrad Tobiassen-Tucker Callahan, Sam Lund-Joshua Lord and Owen Grant-Brett Caron.

    Waterford is 6-6, 0-6.

    In other matches:

    • Ledyard won three matches by forfeit on the way to a 7-0 win over Norwich Free Academy in an ECC Division II match. Ben Fieldsend and Ronan Allison won singles matches for the Colonels (8-7, 5-0) as did the doubles teams of Sebastian Fieldsend-Malloch Allison and Tyler Howard-Noah Freeman. NFA is 1-11, 1-5.

    • Danny Zhong-Ryan Yang, Nathan Dhillon-Jack Bowman and Zach Thomas-Ryan Hochdorfer swept the doubles matches to highlight Montville’s 6-1 win over St. Bernard/Wheeler in an ECC Division III match. Montville (7-5, 4-1) also picked up singles wins by Jack Giurleo, Brendan Duhamal and Matt Malbaurn, while Zachary Kobyluck won at No. 3 singles for the Saints (4-8, 2-4).

    Girls

    • East Lyme improved to 6-7 with a 7-0 win over Montville. Mara Wolff, Avni Kabra and Avery Rindell won singles matches for the Vikings, as did the doubles teams of Riddhi Bansal-Jeanette Liu, Gracie Davis-Kylee Johnston and Joey Zheng-Donna Park. Montville is 0-12.
