    Local roundup: Sanford ends Mystic’s 6-game winning streak

    Norwich — The Sanford Mainers scored four runs in the ninth inning to rally for a 7-5 victory over the Mystics Schooners on Thursday afternoon in a New England Collegiate Baseball League game at Dodd Stadium.

    The Mainers (6-6), who ended Mystic’s six-game winning streak, scored on an error, a wild pitch and two passed balls after trailing 4-3.

    The Schooners (8-5), who trailed 3-0 early, had rallied to take a 4-3 lead with two runs on the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Addison Kopack (Rhode Island) and a two-out RBI single by J.T. Navyac (Cal St. Fullerton).

    Kopac also had an RBI single in the sixth for Mystic while Mike Bello (Auburn) finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored.

    • Brennan Hyde (Nichols) went 4-for-5 with a double, triple three runs scored and an RBI as the Norwich Sea Unicorns routed the Brockton Rox 12-2 in a Futures Collegiate Baseball League game at Dodd Stadium called after seven innings due to the 10-run rule. Connor Cooke (Brown) was 3-for-3 with two RBI for the Sea Unicorns (14-10) while Matthew Bucciero (Fairfield) went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBI.

    • The Sea Unicorns scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and went on to beat the Westfield Starfires 6-1 on Tuesday night. Bucciero had an RBI triple, Dean Ferrera (Fairfield) and Ray Leonzi (Eastern Connecticut) had RBI singles and Zachary Lyons (Bryant) had a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Andrew Bianco (New Haven) and Ferrera had two hits each for Norwich (13-10).
