Thursday marks a celebration for The Day Sports Department, as we invite our 26 All-Area Athletes of the Year from 2022-23 to a banquet in honor of their achievements.

We will also begin the publication of our 11 Spring All-Area teams Thursday, our most-ever honorees in one season, with the addition of boys’ volleyball to our ranks for the first time.

For each spring sport, we will name a Player of the Year and an all-star team from our coverage area, as chosen by our sports staff: Dave Davis, Mike DiMauro, Vickie Fulkerson and Gavin Keefe. Each All-Area Player of the Year was photographed by The Day’s Dana Jensen.

The schedule of publication is as follows: Thursday, boys’ volleyball; Friday, girls’ golf; Saturday, boys’ golf; Sunday, girls’ tennis; Monday, boys’ tennis; Tuesday, girls’ lacrosse; Wednesday, July 5, boys’ lacrosse; Thursday, July 6, softball; Friday, July 7, baseball; Saturday, July 8, girls’ track & field; and Sunday, July 9, boys’ track and field.

This season was highlighted by state, New England and national championships and we look forward to bringing you the stories of those moments.
