    Local roundup: No. 6 St. Bernard beats Fitch 78-70 in ECC Div. I boys’ basketball

    Montville — Amyre Gray scored 10 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter as No. 6 St. Bernard pulled away for a 78-70 win over Fitch in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I boys’ basketball game on Monday night.

    The Saints (7-2, 3-0) led 49-47 after three quarters. Troy McKelvin Jr. had 14 points, Colin O’Leary scored 12 and Nazir Rembert had 10 points for St. Bernard.

    Xavier Goode had a game-high 33 points for Fitch, 14 in the fourth quarter. JJ Robinson scored 17 for the Falcons (6-2, 1-1).

    In other games:

    • Oliver Hibbard scored 10 points and had 14 rebounds as East Lyme beat Old Saybrook 60-31 in a nonleague game. Mike Timpano scored 11 and Brendan Osso had 10 points for the Vikings (6-2).

    • Jadiel Thomas scored 17 points and fellow sophomore Henry Champagne added 10 to lift Williams School past Masters School, 47-30. The Blues are 3-3 overall.

    • Nick Stavesky contributed 11 points and 14 rebounds for Grasso Tech in a 43-27 win over Tourtellotte. Ethan Mizhquiri had 10 rebounds and Charis Johnson had 10 rebounds and six assists for the Eagles (4-3).

    Girls’ basketball

    • Helena Robinson made a 3-pointer with six second left to lift Ledyard to a 48-45 win over Killingly in an ECC Division II game. Maggie Dykes had 19 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocks and Robinson had 12 points for the Colonels (5-3, 3-1).

    • Jada Cheung fired in 26 of her game-high 27 points in the first three quarters, pacing Montville past Norwich Tech, 54-26. Emily Treat chipped in 10 points for the Wolves (5-3). Abby Ulrich led Norwich Tech (4-5) with 12 points.
