    H.S. roundup: East Lyme co-op edges NFA in gymnastics

    East Lyme — East Lyme/Waterford/St. Bernard beat NFA 137.20-134.95 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference gymnastics meet on Monday.

    NFA’s Trinity Ambruso captured all-around honors with a score of 37.40. Ambruso won the vault (9.15), bars (9.65) and floor exercise (9.7) and East Lyme’s Sylvi Otter won the balance beam with a score of 9.10. Capri Sferrazza of St. Bernard was second in all-around (35.40) and came in second on bars, beam and floor.

    Otter was third in all-around (34.50) and St. Bernard’s Olivia Gionet was fourth with 33.80) and second in vault. Anna Ecciholiz of Old Lyme was second in vault and Allison Wojnar of NFA (2-3, 2-3) was second in floor. East Lyme is 5-1, 4-1.

    • Stonington lost to Hand 140.3-130 in a nonleague meet on Saturday. Kiely Voland of Fitch, competing as an individual, finished third in all-round with a score of 34.15. Morgan Flinkinger of Hand won with 36.55.

    Emma Robinson of Fitch third on bars and Voland was second on beam and third cin floor exercise. Mary Lord and Shay Burnside of Stonington (1-5) had fourth-place finishes.

    Girls’ basketball

    • Abby Matheson scored 12 points as Griswold beat Wheeler 34-31. Nat Becotte had 11 points for the Wolverines (3-9). Abby Butremovic had 10 points and Hayden Bresnan and Morgyn Perkins each scored seven for Wheeler (2-9).

    • Unbeaten East Hampton led 21-4 after one quarter and went on to beat Old Lyme 61-19 in a Shoreline Conference game. Ava Roth led Old Lyme (5-7) with eight points and Kanon Oharu scored seven. Liana Salamone led No. 7 East Hampton (12-0) with 18 points.

    Boys’ basketball

    • Quinn Sumner scored 21 points and had nine rebounds as Killingly beat Montville 53-50 in an ECC Division III game. Johnny Kazantzis had 12 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists for Killingly. Jack Treat led Montville (4-8, 1-4) with 14 points.

    • Williams School lost to Bancroft 73-29. Jason Ding led Williams (4-6) with 12 points.
