    Groton — Freshman Synaa Waters had 11 points and 11 rebounds Thursday for the No. 4 Fitch High School girls’ basketball team in a 46-36 victory over No. 5 Woodstock Academy in the quarterfinals of the Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I tournament.

    Fitch (12-9) advanced to meet No. 1 New London in the Division I semifinals at 6 p.m. Saturday at Fitch. No. 2 Bacon Academy will meet No. 6 Ledyard in the other semifinal at 4 p.m.

    In the Division II semifinals, No. 1 Stonington will play No. 4 St. Bernard at 11 a.m., also at Fitch, and No. 2 Windham will play third-seeded Lyman Memorial at 1 p.m.

    Dre'Ana Singleton added 15 points, Meleeya Robbins 12 points and Gabby Dimock had eight points and seven rebounds for Fitch.

    In other games:

    • Maggie Dykes had 23 points in No. 6 Ledyard’s 69-56 victory over No. 3 Norwich Free Academy. Adrianna Hardison had 14 points for Ledyard (12-9), Cassie Rice had 10 points and Cierra Bravar had six assists. Jordyn Bay-Kent had 20 points and Nevaeh Yorke 18 for NFA (12-9).

    • Serenity Lancaster had 32 points, 16 rebounds, six assists and three blocked shots in top-seeded New London’s 64-39 victory over No. 8 Waterford in the ECC Division I quarterfinals. Nyarah Dudley added 14 points, nine rebounds and two assists, Jaidelis Rivera had 10 points, six assists and two steals and Ky'Ani Allgood 10 rebounds for defending tournament champion New London (17-4). Lucy Walker finished with 18 points and seven rebounds for Waterford (8-14) and Lily Davis had 16 points and five steals.

    • Cara Shea led the way with 19 points, including four 3-point field goals, and No. 2 Bacon Academy went on a 15-0 run beginning in the second quarter to beat No. 7 Killingly 53-37 in the quarterfinals of the ECC Division I tournament. Skelyn Schoen-Rene finished with 10 points and Elizabeth Glover had 14 rebounds and four steals for Bacon (16-5).

    • Rory Risley had 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead top-seeded Stonington to a 50-28 win over No. 8 Griswold in the quarterfinals of the ECC Division II tournament. Elizabeth Jones added 11 points for the Bears (14-7), Presley Smith had 10 rebounds and Adilyn Risley had nine rebounds and six steals. Abby Matheson finished with 11 points for Griswold (6-16).

    • Angelica Tompkins had 26 points in No. 4 St. Bernard’s 52-43 win over No. 5 Plainfield in the ECC Division II tournament quarterfinals. Alyssa Hernandez and Gemma Tonucci each added seven points for the Saints (14-7), who prior to the game celebrated Mike Nystrom’s 41 seasons as head coach of the program, and Morghan Kuhn excelled defending Plainfield star Morgan Yonush.

    • Ava Roth had 14 points, eight rebounds and four steals in Old Lyme’s 66-24 loss to Old Saybrook. Old Lyme is 6-14.

    • Autumn Hanks had 16 points, five rebounds, six assists and five steals in Norwich Tech’s 52-38 win over Prince Tech. Abby Ulrich added eight points, nine rebounds and six steals and Olivia Luurtsema had nine points and seven rebounds for Norwich Tech (9-11).

    • Zoe Brown led Wheeler with 15 points in a 43-25 victory over Westbrook. Hayden Bresnan added 12 points and Abby Butremovic 11 for Wheeler.

    H.S. boys’ basketball

    • Leland Hine had 15 points and Colman Curtiss-Reardon 11 in Old Lyme’s 57-48 win over Montville. Jace Kobyluck had 18 points and Jack Treat 14 for Montville (5-15). Old Lyme is 13-5.

    In Wednesday’s game, Montville’s Treat went the length of the court to hit a 3-point field goal at the buzzer, giving Montville a 57-56 victory over Ledyard. Ledyard’s Peyton Luther gave the Colonels a two-point lead with four seconds remaining before Treat's game-winner. Kobyluck led all scorers with 27 points for Montville, including 18 in the second half. Treat finished with eight points to go along with five assists and five rebounds. For Ledyard (4-14), Luther scored 17 and Ben Ruscyzk added 9.

    H.S. swimming

    • Gabriel Pacheco finished first in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.16) and 200 IM (2:11.85) for Fitch co-op in a 90-77 win over Shelton. Other individual winners for the Falcons included: Sterling Welsh (50 freestyle, 23.79) and Joel Hespeler (500 freestyle, 5:51.44).

    Men’s basketball

    • Coast Guard Academy fought back from a nine-point halftime deficit Wednesday to earn its seventh league win and clinch a spot in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference tournament. The Bears (14-10 overall, 7-8 NEWMAC) were led by Declan Rooney with 21 points, eight rebounds and five assists and Luke Farrell with 21 points and three steals. Elijah Parent contributed 17 points and Mitch Shettles had 15 points on five 3-point field goals.
