    Local roundup: Coughlin leads Camels to victory

    Brunswick, Maine — Kate Coughlin scored six goals as Connecticut College beat Bowdoin 10-5 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference women’s lacrosse game on Saturday.

    Campbell Johnston had two goals and an assists, Emma Ognibene had a goal and and assist and Greta Panke had a goal for the Camels (3-2, 1-2). It is the first time Conn has beaten Bowdoin since 2001.

    In other games:

    • Coast Guard lost to Babson 13-10 in its New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference opener. Caitlyn Coates had five goals and an assist, Abby McAllister had two goals and three assists, Addy Bass scored twice and Laine Weber had a goal and an assist for the Bears (5-2).

    Men’s lacrosse

    • Coast Guard lost to Salve Regina 12-10. Ryan Hunter had three goals and four assists, Eric Key had two goals and two assists and Patrick Smith and Max Silver had two goals and an assist each for the Bears (1-4). Waterford’s Mason LaForte scored for Coast Guard.

    • Casey Ryan had six goals to two assists as No. 6 Bowdoin beat Conn College 19-11 in a NESCAC game. Liam Horkan led the Camels (1-3, 0-3) with six goals, JJ Ford had three goals and Aidan McAvoy had five assists while Bobby Chang had two assists.

    H.S. swimming

    • Gabe Pacheco of the Fitch co-op finished 16th in the 100 breaststroke in the CIAC State Open at Yale. Pacheco’s time was 1:01.68. He also teamed with Evan Hespeler, Will O’Donnell and Sterling Welsh to finish 23rd in the 200 medley relay in 1:43.77.

    College baseball

    • Mitchell College closed out its Florida trip with a 9-7 win over SUNY Brockport on Friday in Auburndale. Cole Lalli hit a game-tying grand slam in the eighth inning and a go-ahead two run double in the ninth.

    East Lyme’s Owen Robbins was 4-for-4 with two RBI, Lalli drove in six runs, Michael Ficocelli was 3-for-4 and Montville’s Chas Terni Jr. and Savier Paige had two hits each for the Mariners (8-4). Mitchell was 5-3 on its trip.

    Men’s tennis

    • Conn College wrapped up its spring trip with a 6-3 victory over Colby-Sawyer College on Friday. The Camels (6-3) went 5-0 in Florida. Walker Mulligan, Andy Feldman, Krishh Tipnis and Maximo Gulla won matches for Conn along with the doubles teams of Sigmund Winiecki-Nikhil Agarwal and Tipnis-Colby Hall.
