    Local roundup: Iacobellis leads Williams School to victory in its opener

    Danbury — Ally Iacobellis scored 10 goals, including the game winner, as Williams School opened its season with a 14-13 win over Wooster in a girls’ lacrosse game on Thursday.

    Iacobellis broke a 13-13 with when she scored with less than two minutes remaining. Skylar Frost had four goals and three assists, Julia Cote had two assists, Brooke McLoughlin had an assist and Chloe Crimmins made 11 saves for the Blues.

    In other games:

    • Molly Page scored six goals and had two assists as NFA beat Berlin 11-7 in a nonleague game. Alex Tabilas scored twice, Alice Rourke had a goals and an assist, Sophia Smith made six saves and Hayleigh Young and Leah Burchman each scored a goal for the Wildcats (1-1).

    • Bethany Lovering had seven goals and an assist as Fitch beat Woodstock Academy 18-1 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I game. Stella Connell had three goals, three assists and five caused turnovers, Brooke Bergendahl had three goals, an assist and eight draw controls while Riley Harrington, Maggie Giuliani and Emma Goodwin each scored twice for the Falcons (2-1, 1-0).

    H.S. boys’ lacrosse

    • Brendan Li scored five goals as Williams School opened its season with a 16-7 win over Eagle Hill School. Henry Champagne had three goals and two assists, Finn McCann had three goals, Tyler Gagliardi had three assists at Henry Gallagher made 10 saves for the Blues.

    • Macklin Cushman and Mason Bussmann scored four goals each as Old Lyme beat Ledyard/Griswold 14-0 in a nonleague game. Lucian Tracano and Alex Krol had two goals each, Bussmann had four assists and Luca Signora and Ben Goulding scored goals for Old Lyme (2-0). Matthew Tebbets had 17 saves for the Colonels (0-2).

    Women’s lacrosse

    • Springfield beat Coast Guard 14-8 in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference game. Addy Bass had a goal and two assists, Abby McAllister had a goal and three assists and Isabella Judge and Sarah Skurat each scored twice for Coast Guard (7-3, 2-2).

    • Connecticut College beat No. 18 Trinity 11-10 on Wednesday night in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game. Conn (6-4, 2-4) led 11-7 and held on to win.

    Aine Downey led the Camels with a goal and four assists, Janet Howard had three goals, Kate Coughlin had two goals and an assist and Caroline Bruce and Campbell Johnston scored two goals each.
