    Local roundup: Mitchell tops Anna Maria 8-5

    New London — The Mitchell College baseball team remained unbeaten in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference with an 8-5 win over Anna Maria on Sunday.

    Cole Lalli was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and four RBI to lead the Mariners (17-7, 7-0). Jacob Quiles went 6.1 innings for the win and Angel Galindez, Michael Gajda and Michael Ficocelli had two hits each for Mitchell.

    • Stonington won the girls first varsity race in a meet against Farmington on the Mystic River. The Bears finished in 5:14.2, 10 seconds ahead. Sydney Plant, Aubrey Short, Willow Fraser, Emory Anderson, Cate Statchen, Taylor Whitman, Taryn Nicholson, Anna Sundman and cox Mia Bottone were on the winning boats. Stonington’s boys first varsity finished just behind Fairfield Prep (4:29.1) at 4:29.6 and ahead of Farmington (4:55.5).

    H.S. girls’ lacrosse

    • Jessica Knapp and Penelope Lawlor scored three goals each as East Lyme beat Stonington 9-6 on Saturday night. Lily Poletto had two goals and two assists, Riddhi Venkatesh had a two and two assists and Angela Saporito and Cassidy O’Brien had two goals each for the Vikings (2-0). Emma Logel scored four goals for Stonington (2-1).

    • Griswold/Norwich Tech lost to Watertown 16-13 on Saturday. Sienna Caron, Kaylin Stockwell and Neiara Myrick scored four goals each and Alexis Emanuele made 11 saves for the Wolverines (1-2).

    H.S. boys’ lacrosse

    • Fitch beat Old Saybrook 15-6 in a nonleague game on Saturday. Roman Rich had six goals and two assists, Tate Gordon had five goals and two and Boden Frost had a goal and seven assists for lead the Falcons (2-1). Kai Gordon had two goals and two assists, Gabe Carey had a goal and an assist and Chase Beyus made 17 saves for Fitch.

    H.S. baseball

    • Grasso Tech beat Prince Tech/Hartford Public 4-3 on Friday night and lost to Ellis Tech 7-1 on Saturday. PJ Evans was the winning pitcher and was 2-for-3 and Carmine Rodriguez drove in two runs in the win. Jace Oddo had two hits for Grasso (1-2) against Ellis and Jerry Santiago had a sacrifice fly.
