    Local roundup: Hine, Old Lyme edge H-K in boys’ tennis

    Haddam — Leland Hine won a first-set tiebreaker and won his No. 3 singles match, 7-6 (3), 6-3, as the Old Lyme High School boys’ tennis team defeated Haddam-Killingworth 4-3 Friday in the Shoreline Conference.

    Alis Bicic also won his singles match for Old Lyme (5-0, 5-0), while Mason Wells and Chris Dagher won at No. 1 doubles and Dylan Paynter and Ryan Olsen earned a victory at No. 3 doubles.

    In other matches:

    • East Lyme handed Montville its first loss 7-0. Winning in singles for the Vikings (3-1): Jiarui Peng, Ajay Rena, Kenny Zheng and Sid Jain.

    • Andres Sardar won in No. 1 singles and Fitch defeated St. Bernard/Wheeler 7-0. Evan Whitten, Charlie Gempp and Mason Woodhams also won singles matches for Fitch (2-2).

    H.S. girls’ tennis

    • Old Lyme won its 74th straight match and didn’t lose a set in singles, defeating Haddam-Killingworth 7-0 in the Shoreline Conference. Elaina Morosky, Katherine Zhang, Emma Arelt and Rose Dimmock won in singles for the Wildcats (8-0, 8-0).

    • Montville swept singles and defeated Norwich Tech 4-3. Anna Beauchene, Allie Kondash, Jess Hochdorfer and Kelly Chen won for the Wolves (2-1). Zerrin Ratzer-Emily Pomerleau, Alexa Lopez-Makenzie Stabacha and Jarelis Acevedo-Mila Ladua won in doubles for Norwich Tech (1-2).

    • Grace Duggan and Marcella Hamm won in singles and Stonington defeated Fitch 5-2 in ECC Division I. The Bears are 4-0, 2-0. Maddie Beaulieu and Fiza Shariff won in singles for Fitch (2-1, 1-1).

    • Sarah Hage won at No. 1 singles for Waterford in a 6-1 loss to Guilford.

    H.S. baseball

    • Cam Ogden struck out 10 over six innings, allowing just one infield single, and Stonington defeated Montville 10-1 in ECC Division III. Aaron LoPresto and Michael Keefe each had two hits and Dylan Cimini scored two runs for the Bears (5-2, 2-0). Montville is 5-3, 0-1.

    • Conner Gallagher scattered five hits and pitched a complete game as St. Bernard defeated Ledyard 9-2 in ECC Division II. Martin Light homered for the Saints (4-2, 2-0), while Light, Desmond Powers, Bryce Morrissette, Johnny Lazarou and Colin O’Leary had two hits apiece.

    • Killingly’s five-run fifth inning was good enough for a 10-3 win over New London in ECC Division II. Eddie Torres had two hits, two runs scored and three stolen bases for New London (1-4, 1-1).

    • Chris Lusignan’s RBI triple tied the game with one out in the seventh and Bacon Academy rallied past Plainfield 5-4. Ethan Creutz was the winning pitcher for Bacon (3-2) with two innings of relief.

    • Reis Whitfield and Jerry Santiago had two hits each for Grasso Tech in a 2-1 loss to Rockville. PJ Evans pitched a complete game for Grasso, striking out six, walking one and allowing just one earned run on six hits.

    H.S. boys’ track

    • Gabe Lombardi (100, 200) and Titus Olson (400, 800) each won two individual events and contributed to a relay victory in Waterford’s 112-38 victory over Windham. The Lancers (2-0) swept the relays.

    H.S. girls’ track

    • Waterford (2-0) earned a relay sweep in a 96.67-47.33 victory over WIndham. Ava Tucker, Chloe Butler, Alexa Collins and Lucy Mullen won the 4x100 (53.1) for the Lancers, while Tucker, Arden Bonnanno, Avery Maiese and Elle Dibuono took the 4x400 (4:32) and Anna Waddington, Leah Sanders, Dibuono and Maiese finished first in the 4x800 (11:52.5).

    H.S. golf

    • Wheeler defeated Valley Regional 172-216 at Stonington Country Club. Tyler Signor, Gavin Arruda and Jaxon Davis each shot 42 for the Lions (3-0).

    H.S. volleyball

    • Norwich Free Academy defeated Computer Sciences 25-15, 25-12, 25-14. Alec Ferland had 25 assists, Gage Hinkley nine kills and Tyler McDermott eight kills for NFA.

    H.S. girls’ lacrosse

    • NFA defeated Bacon Academy 16-1. Alice Rourke scored eight goals for NFA (4-1), Leah Burchman had three and Molly Page finished with two goals and two assists.

    • Waterford beat Stonington 10-6 in the ECC Division II game on Thursday. Madison LaForte had two goals and two assists, Katie Jamroga and Payton Smith had two goals each, Victoria Sturm had a goal and three assists, Quinn Brigham had a goal and an assist and Adyson Wiseman and Sadie Tiven also scored for the Lancers (4-0, 3-0). Shay Burnside and Emma Logel had two goals each and Anna Lettiere and Zoe Flynn scored for the Bears (3-4, 3-1).

    • Payton Root’s fifth goal of the game came with five minutes left and lifted Guilford to a 10-9 win over East Lyme on Thursday night. East Lyme’s Jessica Knapp tied the game at 9-9 a minute earlier. Lily Poletto had four goals and two assists, Cassidy O’Brien and Knapp each scored twice, Riddhi Venkatesh had six draw controls and Brielle Rheaume made seven saves for the Vikings (3-3).

    • Sophia Gouveia scored five goals as Wheeler beat Griswold/Norwich Tech 15-7 in an ECC Division III game on Thursday night. Grace Cassata had four goals and Naomi Boord scored three for Wheeler (3-0, 2-0). Sienna Caron and Amelia Hawkins each scored twice and Alexis Emanuele made 14 saves for Griswold (1-4, 0-2).

    H.S. boys’ lacrosse

    • The Williams School suffered its first loss of the season, falling to Harvey School 12-5. Finn McCann scored twice and Henry Gallagher made 17 saves on 29 shots.

    Brendan Li, Henry Champagne and Baker Katko scored goals and Tyler Gagliardi had an assist for the Blues (5-1). Brian Li and Brendan Li had seven ground balls each.

    • Drew Sager scored eight goals with seven assists as East Lyme beat NFA 19-7 in an ECC Division I game on Thursday night. Jack Campbell had three goals and four assists, Aidan Patterson and Jason Stahl had two goals each, Juan Morales had a goal and four assists and Gabe Hanney had a goal and an assist for the Vikings (4-1, 4-0).

    Logan Jenkins scored four goals and an assist, Conor Dempsey scored twice, Gavin Jenkins had a goal and an assist, Tristan Laney had an assist and Luke Wotring made 18 saves for NFA (3-4, 2-1).
