    H.S. softball: Houle pitches Stonington to victory

    Plainfield — Lindsey Houle tossed a three-hitter as Stonington beat Plainfield 7-0 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division III game on Monday.

    Stonington took control with four runs in the first inning. Cami Brown and Michaela Miner each had three hits for the Bears (12-3, 5-0) while Sophia Dutra added two doubles.

    In other games:

    • Lyman Memorial seized the lead with four runs in the third inning on the way to a 13-1 win over Bolton. Natani Spears powered the Bulldogs (3-10) with a double, two triples and five RBI while Erica Arpin added three hits and Rylee Benway walked three times, scored three runs and added an RBI.

    • Bacon Academy improved to 9-4 overall, 1-2 in ECC Division II, with a 7-1 win over Killingly. Jazlyn Small led the Bobcats with a double, home run, RBI and two run scored while Natalia Vernali had two hits and two RBI.

    • Mia Starling went 4 for 4 and winning pitcher Lexi Lemmon struck out 11 and walked one, as Ledyard beat New London, 12-0, in five innings in Division II. Maegan Miller and Aleecia Helme each chipped in two hits for the Colonels (11-4, 4-0). The Whalers are 2-8, 0-4.

    • Autumn Hanks threw a five-inning no-hitter in Norwich Tech’s mercy-rule shortened 22-1 victory over Vinal Tech. Morgan Cook went 4 for 5, including a home run, and had three RBI while Evelyn Brimer hit for the cycle and had two RBI for the Warriors (8-7). Khai Maldonado had a single, double and home run and Carden Stimson added a triple and four RBI.

    • Izzy Mitchell tripled, homered and drove in three runs as Montville beat Tourtellotte 22-2. Ava Gero was 4-for-5 with a doubles and Kayla Terni was 3-for-4 with four RBI for the Wolves (9-6).
