    A minimalist ‘Macbeth’ in Westerly

The Stage Door Theater Company will present Shakespeare’s “The Tragedy of Macbeth” at Wilcox Park in Westerly, and the production will take a minimalist approach.

Eugene J. Celico directs, and the press info notes that “for Celico it is all about the language, the dialogue and fitting the play to the space, not the other way around.”

There will be no period costumes, no stage set pieces, no theatrical lighting.

Heading up the cast are Bill Corriveau as Macbeth and Nancy Young as Lady Macbeth. Also featured are John Andriso, Greg Bliven, Jon Cillino, Christine Reynolds, Alyssa Christian, Mary Sue Frishman, Chris Maxwell, Geoffrey Blanchette and Joe Harper.

    “The Tragedy of Macbeth,” Wilcox Park, 44 Broad St., Westerly; 6 p.m. Aug. 18-20 and 27, 3 p.m. Aug. 21 and 28; free; (860) 514-5821.
