Connecticut murder victim to suspect: 'Leave me alone!'

Middletown - Less than five months before she was shot to death, a Wesleyan University student sent an angry email to the man now on trial for killing her, telling him: "Leave me alone!"

Johanna Justin-Jinich was shot in May 2009 while she was working off-campus. Prosecutors say Stephen Morgan killed her.

In a December 2008 email to Morgan, Justin-Jinich wrote, "I am so tired of you STALKING me. Leave me alone! ... YOU are the type of person that women take self-defense classes to protect themselves against."

The email was read in court Friday during Morgan's murder trial. He's pursuing an insanity defense.

Morgan, 32, apparently met Justin-Jinich, of Timnath, Colo., when they were in the same summer class at New York University in 2007. Justin-Jinich filed a harassment complaint with police that summer claiming she was getting unwanted phone calls and insulting emails from Morgan, but she didn't pursue criminal charges.

A day before Justin-Jinich's email, Morgan wrote an email to her that said, "When you were upset about not communicating anymore, I thought it was because you needed me. But it was all stupid because I didn't have a clue what I was doing at the time."

In her response, Morgan said she'd go to police if she ever saw him in person. Prosecutors say Morgan, from Marblehead, Mass., was wearing a wig when he shot Justin-Jinich.

She accused him of "spamming" her previous email account with "psychotic e-mails" and wrote, "I do NOT want to communicate with you, ever."

"I don't know what went wrong in your childhood or your adult life thus far to make you feel like you have some right to sexually harass me, to track me down on my various email accounts, to feel like you know me when you actually have no idea who I am or what I am capable of to make sure you never talk to me again," Justin-Jinich wrote. "You don't deserve to know me and you never will. So stop littering my life."

On Friday, relatives of Justin-Jinich, who was 21, wept while Middletown Detective David Fuchs read the email, which had the subject line: "STOP". Fuchs testified that when Justin-Jinich received the email from Morgan, "she didn't know how he had tracked her down."
