Press spokesman abruptly departs McMahon campaign

Hartford – Republican U.S. Senate candidate Linda McMahon is down a press spokesman with just over two months to go before the November election.

Tim Murtaugh, the campaign's communications director, abruptly resigned this week. He was on the job for only a month and a half.

McMahon's campaign manager, Corry Bliss, declined this afternoon to specify why Murtaugh opted to leave, saying only that "we wish him the best."

Murtaugh, who is in his mid-40s, joined the McMahon campaign in early July. He replaced Erin Isaac, who left in early July to return to Florida for unspecified family reasons.

He previously worked for the Republican Governors Association, the Republican National Committee and on various state and national races in Virginia.

Murtaugh is the grandson of Danny Murtaugh, a longtime manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
