Police: Elderly woman assaulted in home invasion

Danbury (AP) — An 85-year-old Danbury woman suffered a broken hip and cuts and bruises when police say she was pulled from her bed and assaulted in a home invasion.

The News-Times reports that the unidentified woman screamed loudly enough to draw the attention of neighbors who tried to intervene in the incident on Saturday.

Police say Donny Jackson was arrested after a 14-hour search and is held on $1 million bond. He was charged with home invasion, first-degree burglary, assault of an elderly person, first-degree robbery and other offenses.

Police say Jackson waved a gun at neighbors who tried to intervene and that he pulled the woman into the hallway and shoved her against the walls.

It was not known Monday morning if Jackson is represented by a lawyer.
