Full service to resume on crippled NYC-Conn. rail
New York — The Metropolitan Transit Authority says full service will be restored to a crippled line of the nation's second-largest commuter railroad.
The MTA says Saturday that the line running between New Haven, Conn., and Grand Central Terminal in New York City will run at full capacity beginning Monday.
The MTA says Monday's full service is made possible after a successful test of a new electrical substation in Mount Vernon, N.Y.
Service on the line had been disrupted since Sept. 25, when a high voltage power feeder cable failed. A second feeder cable had been out of service due to a previously planned upgrade.
Tens of thousands of commuters have had to endure delays and find alternative routes since the outage.
