Police arrest murder suspect, find 98 pounds of pot
Hartford (AP) — Police say they arrested a man in connection with a Hartford murder after finding him in a Manchester apartment with 98 pounds of marijuana.
Hartford police say they obtained a search warrant for the apartment while investigating the killing of 33-year-old Mark McNickle, who was shot to death on Jan. 15 in Hartford's first homicide of the year.
Hartford and Manchester police executed the search warrant just after 5 a.m. Thursday and say they found 28-year-old Deranna Fletcher in his apartment, as well as the marijuana, $39,000 in cash, two firearms and ammunition.
Fletcher was charged with murder in McNickle's death and several drug and gun crimes. He's detained on $2 million bail.
It's not clear if Fletcher has a lawyer.
