Rhode Island deer hunting permits go on sale

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island's deer hunting season may be more than a month away, but permits are now available.

The permits went on sale Saturday and can either be purchased online at the Department of Environmental Management's website or at any one of dozens of local sales agents.

Deer permits are sold as antlered deer, or buck, permits or antlerless deer permits. Hunters may also purchase one “All Outdoors” package permit for use in most of the state to take up to seven deer during the seasons. A limit of 350 “All Outdoors” packages are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The deer hunting season kicks off with a youth archery season in parts of the state on Sept. 12 and 13, followed by the Sept. 15 opener for all archers. Zone 2, which is mostly western portions of the state, opens to youth archers on Sept. 26 and 27 followed by the Oct. 1 opener for all archers.
