The Day's managing editor, other state media professionals to discuss truth in media Tuesday in free virtual program

The media landscape has changed in recent years, and we want to help our audience devise a strategy to seek out the truth.

Tonight at 7 p.m., John Dankosky of the CT Mirror will host a free virtual discussion, "Navigating Truth in a Changing Media Landscape."

Panelists are Izaskun E. Larrañeta, managing editor of The Day; Marie K. Shanahan, associate professor of journalism at the University of Connecticut; and John K. Silva, senior director of education and training at the News Literacy Project.

The panel will explore strategies that media consumers can adopt, and ask: How do the dynamics of consuming information differ across generations? How do these differences in media consumption lead to disinformation and disagreement over truth? How does the historical journalistic role of checks, balance and context operate in the new landscape?

The panel is sponsored by the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut.
