Waterbury restaurant owner charged with murder in shooting outside his business
A Waterbury restaurant owner has been arrested and charged with murder following a shooting outside his business early Saturday.
Michael Anderson, 61, was charged with murder, first-degree reckless endangerment and unlawful discharge of a firearm after a shooting outside of Mikey’s Jamaican Restaurant on East Main Street in Waterbury.
At about 1:40 a.m. Saturday, police found a 28-year-old man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound outside the restaurant, which police said is owned by Anderson.
Police said Anderson and the victim had gotten into an altercation when Anderson allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the victim. The victim was transported to Saint Mary’s Hospital, where he later died.
Anderson is being held on $2 million bond. The victim has not been identified.
Waterbury police are investigating the incident.
