    Police: 545 traffic citations and 24 DUI arrests on CT state roads so far over Thanksgiving weekend

    At the midway point of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Connecticut State Police said Saturday they have responded to more than 4,000 calls for service, including a fatal crash on Route 15.

    Connecticut State Police reported that troopers responded to 4,303 calls for service between 12:01 a.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Friday, including 240 crashes.

    Two Hartford-area men were killed early Saturday in a Route 15 crash in Wallingford and two other accidents closed portions of Interstate 95 for hours after overnight accidents in Milford and West Haven.

    Troopers have issued 545 citations so far this year, including for seat belt violations, unsafe lane changes and distracted driving, and issued 176 speeding tickets, state police said.

    Troopers have made 24 arrests for driving under the influence so far this Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

    State police have increased manpower and enforcement for the holiday through midnight Sunday.

    Last year, state police said they responded to a total of 7,500 calls for service during the holiday weekend.

    In 2021, state police said they issued 501 speeding tickets and made 50 DUI arrests.
