Police: Conn. woman arrested after leading Massachusetts state trooper on chase on I-91

A Manchester woman was arrested after she led a state trooper on a chase in Massachusetts Sunday night, police said.

The woman, whose name police did not release, was charged with failure to stop for police, unlicensed operation, speeding and leaving the scene of a property-damage crash, Trooper James D. DeAngelis said Tuesday.

According to DeAngelis, a trooper tried to pull over the southbound car in the area of Exit 46 in Greenfield, Mass., on suspicion of speeding. The car did not stop, however, and led the trooper on a chase until it got off the highway at Exit 43, also in Greenfield and about 2.5 miles down the highway.

The trooper opted not to continue the pursuit but alerted Greenfield police to be on the lookout for the car, which ended up striking another vehicle at the Route 2 rotary, DeAngelis said. The collision caused minor damage, and no one was injured.

About three hours later, another trooper talked to the registered owner of the car — a 44-year-old man from Cheshire, Conn. — and found the car at a home in Greenfield, DeAngelis said.

The trooper then found the woman, who is 25, questioned her and gave her a summons to appear in court, he said.
