Iconic chicken chain Raising Cane’s opening three CT locations

Fried chicken lovers rejoice: the iconic Raising Cane’s chain is coming to Connecticut with locations including Enfield, Wethersfield, and Simsbury.

The Louisiana-based Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, known for its Southern fried chicken, is set to hold its grand opening on Tuesday for its Enfield location at 90 Elm St., near the Enfield Square Mall, a spokesperson for the company said. The location will feature dual drive-throughs, a large dining room, and a patio for seasonal outdoor seating.

The chain has announced another location on the Silas Deane Highway in Wethersfield.

“We are excited to bring our ONE LOVE — craveable Chicken Finger Meals — to Wethersfield!,” said Hannah Henderson, spokesperson for Raising Cane’s.

The fast food company expects to begin construction on the new Wethersfield location at 1298 Silas Deane Highway in the spring of 2025, and to open it by late 2025 or early 2026.

The popular chain, with plans to continue its rapid expansion across the state, has also won approval for a third location in Simsbury at 530 Bushy Hill Road, according to assistant town planner Brittany MacGilpin. The location, which marks the first in the Farmington Valley, was approved by the Simsbury Zoning Commission on July 17. The company, however, did not confirm the plans.

“The next step is to get building permits approved,” MacGilpin said. “That process could take a few months.”

A fourth location was planned for New Haven county at 1455 Boston Post Road in Milford. The company submitted a proposal to replace a former Milford Bank branch site with their own building. However, those plans have been put on hold after the town’s Planning and Zoning Board rejected a variance of the town’s parking regulations, the town’s Zoning Board of Appeals secretary Meg Greene said.

Raising Cane’s, founded in Baton Rouge in 1996, serves fried chicken fingers, crinkle-cut French fries and Texas toast. Most notable is the chicken chain’s signature Cane’s sauce that features a “top secret recipe.”

Unique for having chicken fingers as its only entree option, the chain has over 700 locations across the United States. Connecticut will be the second state in New England to host the fast food chain. The company has also expanded in Massachusetts with locations planned for Medford, Framingham, and Saugus, Mass. The first location in New England opened in Boston.
