Massachusetts man facing murder after woman found in trunk of burned car

WORCESTER, Mass. — A Massachusetts man previously charged with burning a car in which the body of a woman was later found is now facing a murder charge.

Steven Foley, 57, was held without bail after a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf at his arraignment Thursday.

Foley is charged with killing 59-year-old Cynthia Webb, of Sterling, who was found in the trunk of the car that was burned in a Worcester cemetery in December.

The murder charge was added this week when the medical examiner determined that Webb died of "homicidal violence."

Prosecutors say Foley and Webb had been seen talking at an adult entertainment club in Webster the night before the burning car was found.

Foley's attorney did not argue for bail and declined to comment after the arraignment.
