Man dies after police subdue him with stun guns

COHASSET, Mass. (AP) — Authorities in Massachusetts are investigating the death of a man who died after police used electronic stun guns to subdue him.

A spokeswoman for the Norfolk district attorney says Cohasset police responded to a home in town at about 10 p.m. Thursday after getting a 911 call about a disturbance.

The spokeswoman says responding officers found a 25-year-old man, identified as Erich Stelzer, attacking a 24-year-old woman with a knife.

Officers used stun guns on Stelzer and the woman was able to get away. She was hospitalized with stabbing and slashing injuries.

Stelzer was being transported to the hospital when he became unresponsive and was later pronounced dead.

The medical examiner is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death and state police are investigating.
