Connecticut homicide suspect caught in South Carolina

NEW BRITAIN — A Connecticut man wanted in connection with the shooting death of his girlfriend has been captured in South Carolina after more than a month on the run.

Authorities say 43-year-old Benjamin Morales was found hiding in a refrigerator at a home in Georgetown County on Tuesday.

No shots were fired during the arrest and Morales did not resist.

Morales is wanted in connection with the shooting death on Feb. 4 of 28-year-old Alice Marie Figueroa, who was found in the New Britain apartment they shared. Police obtained a warrant charging him with murder following the shooting.

He is being detained in South Carolina until his extradition to Connecticut can be arranged. It could not be determined if he has a lawyer who could comment.
