Fake campaign signs in Farmington draw condemnation

FARMINGTON (AP) — Fake political campaign signs in a Connecticut town comparing Democratic candidates to sexually transmitted diseases are drawing condemnation from both sides of the political spectrum.

The fake signs with the words "Dripp Clapp Herpes" over the phrase "Row A," in reference to the Democratic slate, were placed directly in front of the real campaign signs in Farmington.

They were up for a few hours Tuesday before they were taken down.

Farmington Democratic Town Committee Chairman Mike Daly told the Hartford Courant the signs were "especially appalling" because whoever put them up spent the time, effort and money to print professional signs.

Republican Town Committee Chairman Mike Clark said the signs were "perverse" and "not funny."

It remains unclear who placed the signs.
