PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A Rhode Island woman described in court records as a “major pipeline” for trafficking methamphetamine in the state was sentenced Monday to 10 years in prison, federal prosecutors said.

Alexa Samoiloff, 51, of Providence, who was on state probation for drug trafficking at the time of her arrest by the FBI on methamphetamine trafficking charges in October 2019, previously pleaded guilty to the federal charges.

She set up drug deals from her apartment, motel rooms and other places, often providing instructions using an encrypted app to others working at her direction, prosecutors said. Drug payments were often sent to her via Walmart/MoneyGram wire transfers, prosecutors said.

She was arrested after the FBI found drugs, scales, ammunition, multiple knives, swords and a crossbow as well as items used in the packaging and distribution of methamphetamine in her home, prosecutors said.

In addition to the prison term, she was sentenced to five years of probation. Two of her accomplices have pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing, prosecutors said.
