UConn women pause activities after positive COVID-19 within program

Storrs — The start of the UConn women's basketball season is on hold after the university announced on Monday night that a member of the program has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement released by the UConn athletic department, the Huskies have "temporarily suspended team activities," adding, "per university protocol, team activities will remain on hold for at least 14 days and will resume when it is deemed safe by medical professionals."

UConn was scheduled to play four games during that time, including the season opener on Saturday against Quinnipiac at the Mohegan Sun Arena. UConn said "any schedule adjustments will be announced at a later date."
