    A big deal in Germany

A member of the street theater group Royal De Luxe moves a giant marionette through Berlin on Friday. The first of a pair of giant marionettes has awakened in Berlin and started the search for her missing partner as part of a massive-scale street performance celebrating German reunification. Clad in a bright yellow rain slicker and hat, the 25-foot "small giant" launched her search early Friday, hung from a crane and accompanied by several dozen handlers. Her 49-foot partner, the "big giant," is to emerge from an inner-city harbor today. The two figures, accompanied by 100 handlers from the Royale de Luxe theater company, which is staging the spectacle, will make their way down separate routes through the capital, eventually uniting. The Berlin Wall fell on Nov. 9, 1989, and East and West Germany merged the following year.
