Earth, Wind & Fire joins with Chicago in concert

On its current tour, Earth, Wind & Fire is taking time to pay homage to legendary founder Maurice White.

White died in February at age 74 of complications from Parkinson's disease. He had stopped touring with the band more than 20 years ago, after he was diagnosed with the disease. His legacy, though, has remained vibrant and undeniable.

As fans will no doubt see when Earth, Wind & Fire plays Saturday at Mohegan Sun Arena, the group has been paying tribute to White by projecting photos of him as the band performs "That's the Way of the World."

White's brother, bassist Verdine, is still performing with the group, as are original band members vocalist Philip Bailey and drummer Ralph Johnson. Reviews of this tour have been enthusiastic, and, really, who can resist Earth, Wind & Fire and "September" and "Let's Groove" and "Boogie Wonderland"?

And if Earth, Wind & Fire isn't enough, the tour also features co-headliners Chicago. The two bands open and close the concert together and do their individual sets in between.

    Earth, Wind & Fire, Chicago — 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Mohegan Sun Arena; $60, $80; mohegansun.com.
