The last time Toto came through the area, they were double-billed with prog rock titans Yes.

On Thursday, Toto returns with a show at the Grand Theater in Foxwoods, and this time they're on a co-headline show with the distinctive pop-soul singer Boz Scaggs. It's a tribute to Toto that their sophisticated music fits in effortlessly in what would seem to be two very different tours. Their last album, 2015's "Toto XIV," strongly indicated the band has remained creative and seemingly capable of exploring their artful and virtuosic sound as long as they want to. Too, this summer, founding keyboardist Steve Porcaro released a very fine solo pop record, "Someday/Somehow," and it'll be interesting to see if the band includes a tune or two in their set list.

As for Scaggs, he also remains creatively active. In recent years, he's experimented with interpretive albums of jazz and Memphis soul, and his latest, "A Fool to Care," lovingly nuances classics of New Orleans R&B. Let's hope he doesn't totally forget his own rich material including the gorgeous "Sierra."
