Ed Asner comes to Kate for one-man comedy show

You might know him from various television series such as “The Wild Wild West,” “Ironside,” and “Mission Impossible” — and you most definitely know him from “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “Lou Grant.” Those from a younger generation might recognize him as Santa from the Will Ferrell movie "Elf” and as the voice of Carl Fredricksen, the senior citizen from the Pixar film "Up." Anyway, I’m talking about Ed Asner — the seven-time Emmy winner and show-biz heavyweight.

And despite his age (he is now 87), the man doesn’t seem to be slowing down. As of late, he has been creating one-man plays and, for his newest show, he will be making a stop at the Katherine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center Wednesday and Aug. 17 to perform it. In his comic show, which is titled “A Man and His Prostate,” Asner will detail the trials and tribulations of a recent hospital trip made on the account of, as you probably guessed, his prostate. With such an unabashedly unapologetic title, it’s probably safe to assume that hilarity will ensue.
