NTI students explore O'Neill's life and city

The students at the O'Neill Center's National Theater Institute always end their semester with a final project that calls upon all they've learned in the training program.

The original project being performed this weekend takes on as its subject Eugene O'Neill's New London. It weaves together theatricalizations of letters, poems, original material and more.

NTI Artistic Director Rachel Jett said, "We began by asking a lot of questions, and doing a good deal of research, aided by resident O'Neill scholar Rob Richter. We found ourselves profoundly moved by the writing and the eventful, tortured life of this monumental figure."

    - KRISTINA DORSEY

NTI performance, 7:30 p.m. Fri. and Sat., Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, 305 Great Neck Road, Waterford; free; (860) 443-7139.
