And aweigh we go: WoodenBoat Show returns to Mystic

The Mystic WoodenBoat Show DAY FILE PHOTO

Wooden ya know:Wooden boats converge on Mystic Seaport this weekend - and we mean all manner of wooden boats, from yachts to dinghies, powerboats to canoes. It's for the 23rd annual WoodenBoat Show, which the seaport hosts along with WoodenBoat Publications. Expect more than 100 boats - both classics and contemporary creations.

A building experience:One of the many interesting aspects of the event is the Family BoatBuilding tent. Visitors can watch as families and teams build their own canoe or skiff. And another one: "I Built it Myself," which showcases home-built boats.

Beyond boats:A wide array of vendors will be selling boat-related items, whether it's maritime art or books or nautical gear. It's all part of a weekend honoring "the design and craftsmanship of wooden craft."
