Panic! at the Disco plays at Mohegan Sun

It's one thing for bands to insert an umlaut over vowels in their name, and Motörhead, Blue Öyster Cult and Jüstin Bieber have certainly earned our respect. However, just because Wham! decided to wax experimental with an exclamation mark is not an indication that just anyone should do it. In fact, given their body of work, you'd think any other artist would recoil in revulsion at the idea of doing the same.

And yet Panic! at the Disco not only jumped on the exclamation point construct, they inserted it in the middle of a phrase. (It was hard not to end that last sentence with an exclamation point.)

In any event, this Las Vegas emo-and-beyond band have been big stars since they left high school (presumably with poor grammar grades). Over the years, Panic! at the Disco has expanded their creative ideas to include New Wave and classic '60s pop, and their latest album, "Too Weird to Live, to Rare to Die!," convincingly incorporates electronica and metal bombast into the recipe.

On the heels of an even newer EP called "Nicotine," they bring their "Gospel" tour to the Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday. Walk the Moon, Magic Man and Youngblood Hawke appear in support.
