Ricky Martin brings his showmanship to Mohegan Sun

Ricky Martin is a sure thing. You go see him in concert, you're going to get an amazing show.

It doesn't hurt that he has had a lot of practice. The 43-year-old started out as part of the boy band Menudo, and he's developed a confident sense of showmanship in the years since. In a review of his Madison Square Garden concert earlier this month, New York Times critic Jon Pareles described Martin as "a song-and-dance man who keeps his music up-to-date for Latin pop radio, and who smiles his way through electronic beats, hard rock, lovelorn ballads and carnival-ready Caribbean rhythms. He's the kind of performer who can make a fully choreographed workout look like nonstop fun."

Pareles also quotes Martin as saying several times that he's obsessed with performing. Hey, his fans know — and appreciate — that.

Martin brings his "One World" tour to Mohegan Sun Arena on Sunday, and his set list promises hits like "La Vida Loca" with representation from his latest album, "A Quién Quiera Escuchar" ("For Those Who Want to Listen").

Ricky Martin, 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Mohegan Sun Arena; with Wisin; $46, $66; mohegansun.com.
