Author Kimmel discusses ‘Parables of Coercion’

Seth Kimmel, who grew up in East Lyme and attended The Williams School in New London, will discuss his new book, “Parables of Coercion: Conversion and Knowledge at the End of Islamic Spain,” on Tuesday at Bank Square Books in Mystic.
The book was published in October by The University of Chicago Press. Kimmel is an assistant professor in the department of Latin American and Iberian Cultures at Columbia University.
The event runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and features a discussion with the author, followed by drinks and snacks.
