Belly up to the Whaling City, folks!

It's time for one of New London's most popular events, its food stroll. The fall event happens on Wednesday, Oct. 14, and anyone who loves to nosh should get thee downtown. People stroll the streets and pop in to enjoy bite-sized dishes prepared for the event by such local venues as Mambo Bar & Restaurant, The Seehund German Pub & Restaurant, Tony D's, and Muddy Waters Café.

How it works: you have to buy a button, which are $30 in advance for the general public (see other prices below). That button allows you to sample the offerings from the participating venues. When you buy a button, you get a map with all the locations and info you need.

Musicians perform, from FrankenPhil to The Advantagers.

The strolls are often sold-out, so you might want to buy a button earlier rather than later.

New London Fall Food Stroll, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 14, downtown New London; if tickets remain, they will be sold from 10 a.m. Wed. at Harris Place, 165 State St., New London; buttons $30 in advance, $35 on Wednesday ($25 in advance and $30 on Wednesday for military and students); newlondonmainstreet.org.
