In a response to the letter, “Congress needs term limits,” (July 18). We already have term limits in place. Two years for members of the House of Representatives and six years for U. S. Senate members. It seems to me what is being proposed here is not a set of term limits, but more like a safeguard to prevent Americans from their own stupidity, evidenced by their constantly re-electing the members of our government. This practice is not one sided along political lines. Republicans have Mitch McConnell, Democrats have Nancy Pelosi. Americans truly get everything they deserve, and that clearly includes career politicians.
