Mystic Chamber president identified as art show worker hit by car Saturday morning

Mystic — Tricia Walsh, president of the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce, has been identified as the Mystic Outdoor Art Festival staff member who was struck by a car Saturday morning while setting up for the art show. She remains at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London with undisclosed injuries.

Dale Wolbrink, a member of the Chamber's executive board, confirmed Sunday afternoon that Walsh had been struck by a car near Gravel Street about 7 a.m. Saturday.

"She's stable and alert," Wolbrink said in a phone interview. "All the prognoses look great."

Wolbrink said Walsh's family has asked for privacy as she recuperates. She added that Hannah Stewart, the Chamber's director of membership and communications, had all volunteers in place to continue running the art festival, which continued through Sunday at 5 p.m. Walsh, who has served as Chamber president for more than two years, was reported by Groton Town police Saturday to be in stable condition.

"Obviously, her presence is missed," Wolbrink said.

She said the Chamber board of directors is waiting for more news from the family about Walsh's condition to learn how soon she might be able to return to her post. Meanwhile, she said, board  members and staff will step up as needed.

The art festival, now in its 58th year, is a landmark Mystic event run by the Chamber. Walsh, daughter of former Mystic Chamber president Linnea Lindstrom, served as events coordinator for the business association before being named to head the group in February 2013.
