Stonington finance board sets budget review schedule

The Board of Finance will continue its review of the proposed 2017-18 budget next month before finalizing a proposal to send to a public hearing.

The board already has reviewed the budgets proposed by various human service agencies, as well as the police, water pollution control and solid waste departments.

On March 1 the board is scheduled to review the public works, general government and town capital improvement budgets, followed by the school budget and school capital improvements on March 22.

The finance board also has slated March 28, 29 and 30 as budget deliberation sessions, during which members will finalize their proposed budget and send it to a public hearing. All meetings begin at 7:15 p.m. and are held at the police station except the March 28 session, which will be held at the Wequetequock firehouse.

After the public hearing the board will adopt a budget to send to a referendum vote.
