    DOT: Two I-95 crashes cause delays Tuesday morning

    Two Interstate 95 accidents, including one in which a tractor-trailer spilled its load, caused delays locally Tuesday morning, according to the state Department of Transportation.

    The first, which occurred just after 10 a.m. on I-95 north between exits 81 and 82 in Waterford, involved the tractor-trailer, DOT officials said.

    The road was reopened about 11:15 a.m.

    Information about what spilled was not immediately available.

    According to the DOT, road work also occurring between exits 81 and 82 was to be in effect until 3 p.m. Tuesday.

    The second crash, which DOT officials said involved one vehicle, happened on I-95 south between exits 71 and 70 in Old Lyme not long before 10:30 a.m.

    It closed one lane for more than half an hour, but was cleared up shortly after 11 a.m.

    Information about any injuries that may have stemmed from the crashes wasn't available.
