Man to serve 18 months for sex with East Lyme juvenile he met online

A 32-year-old man was sentenced Monday in New London Superior Court to 18 months in prison and five years probation for sexually assaulting a juvenile from East Lyme he met online in 2015.

Kristopher Michael Dukett of Waterville, Maine, formerly of Uncasville and Warwick, R.I., had pleaded guilty to risk of injury to a minor, accepting a plea deal involving a sentence of 10 years in prison, suspended after 18 months served, followed by five years of probation.

According to the state, Dukett and a 15-year-old male who disclosed his true age began exchanging Skype messages. Dukett then arranged to meet the juvenile for a sexual encounter at his home in East Lyme in September 2015, and later at a local cemetery and in a parking lot in Waterford. The sexual contact was illegal since the juvenile had not reached the age of consent, which is 16.

The case was investigated by state police at Troop E in Montville. Dukett was free on bond while his case was pending before Judge Hillary B. Strackbein. He is now being held at the Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Institution.

Senior Assistant State's Attorney Theresa Anne Ferryman prosecuted the case. Dukett was represented by attorney Peter D. Catania.
