    Volunteers make seniors feel special

On May 20, the 11th annual Celebrate 90-plus Tea was held at the East Lyme Community Center to honor the town’s residents who are 90 or older. This program is sponsored by the East Lyme Senior Center, Bridebrook Health and Rehab, and Crescent Point of Niantic. The staff from these three agencies work diligently to put on an affair to be remembered. In addition, Flanders Fish House and Market supported the event by providing clam chowder and clam fritters. Every year, we are amazed at the vitality of our nonagenarians and so very honored they attend.

However, it is the support of the volunteers of the East Lyme Senior Center that truly is inspiring. They give freely of their time, expertise and compassion not only for our special tea but for every day the senor center operates. Without their commitment to the center and to the older adult population, the East Lyme Senior Center could not operate.
