Closing out the summer season, the Essex Art Association will present its last open show of 2017, one that won’t have an overarching theme and one that will offer a large variety of subjects and styles. Its title, “Wild and Crazy,” complements this idea, with an exhibition that has encouraged artists to “let their imaginations take charge and create art that surprises with its originality and style.” A free reception open to the public will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Essex Art Association Gallery, and the show will run through Aug. 26.
