Coogan Farm celebrates grand opening

The Nature and Heritage Center at Coogan Farm in Mystic will host a grand opening and ribbon cutting on Sept. 4 and a free community picnic Sept. 6.

At 10 a.m., Sept. 4, the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center and the Trust for Public Land will host the ribbon cutting at the Nature and Heritage Center at Coogan Farm, 162 Greenmanville Ave. This event is open to the public.

The picnic, from 5 to 9 p.m., is a bring-your-own event, supplemented by local food vendors including Zest Fresh Pastry, Meadowstone Farm cheese, and Hunts Brook Farm pizza, all of whom will have food for sale. There will be children's activities and live music. Free shuttle buses will be running from Mystic Seaport's north lot. Attendees are asked to park there as on-site parking is reserved for those who need assistance.
