Mystic — Workers at Mystic Seaport prepared to move the Mayflower II from dock into the shiplift on Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, to be hauled out of the Mystic River at the H.B. duPont Preservation Shipyard.
The ship, a replica of the vessel that brought the Pilgrims to the New World in 1620 and built in 1957 in England as a gift to the United States in thanks for support during and after World War II, is an attraction at Plimoth Plantation in Plymouth, Mass., and will be undergoing a 30-month restoration at the Seaport in preparation to sail again on the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrims' voyage.
